# ASO Studio

Source: https://asostudio.app

ASO Studio helps iOS developers get more downloads, with an app for Mac and one for iPhone. The Mac app finds the search terms worth targeting, sizes up markets and competitors, writes the metadata for your next release, and runs Apple Search Ads. ASO Studio Connect, on iPhone and iPad, follows every submission through App Review and shows your sales. It combines review mining, keyword research, rank tracking, and release planning to help developers improve their app's discoverability. ASO Studio uses its own algorithms to model keyword demand, competition, and market size from public App Store signals. The models draw on search results, autocomplete, ratings, review activity, and pricing to help you compare opportunities. Developers can identify unmet needs, compare markets, choose search terms, and review metadata changes before publishing them. Search scores are relative indexes, and other apps' download and revenue estimates cover the stated sample. Your own downloads come from App Store Connect, which is where Apple reports them. Core research uses live public App Store data with no required API keys, and your research is stored on your Mac. App Store Connect and Apple Search Ads are optional connections. An opt-in weekly email report is in development.

## What it does

### Keyword research

- **Live rank tracking**: See your app's live position for every keyword you track.
- **Bulk keywords**: Add keywords and measure them all at once.
- **Popularity**: Popularity is a relative 0 to 100 comparison score, not an official search-volume count.
- **Demand**: Demand is a 0 to 100 estimate of current search interest. Your Apple Search Ads data can sharpen it.
- **Difficulty**: Difficulty runs 0 to 100. A higher value means the term is harder to rank for.
- **Opportunity**: Opportunity weighs demand against difficulty. Strong demand is not an opportunity if the competition is unbeatable.
- **Confidence**: Confidence describes evidence quality. It does not turn an estimate into an official Apple measurement.
- **Momentum**: Momentum is the change in rank over the previous seven days, once enough history exists.
- **Performance history**: Track how your positions change over time.
- **Ranking leaderboard**: Inspect the top apps ranking for any term.
- **Keyword verdicts**: A plain-language read on every keyword.

### Competition

- **Keyword suggestions**: Pull keyword ideas straight from competing apps.
- **Per-term mining**: Mine more keywords from a single term's leaders.
- **Competitor discovery**: Find the apps that rank beside you most.
- **Visibility and overlap**: Visibility is the share of your tracked keywords where a competitor appears.
- **Whole-space analysis**: See who really owns your niche.
- **Business models**: See how the leaders make their money.
- **Review mining**: Surface what users complain about and ask for.
- **Feature openings**: Turn recurring requests into product ideas.
- **App keyword profiles**: See every keyword any app ranks for.
- **Keyword monetization**: See how apps on a term charge users.
- **Positioning gaps**: Separate real openings from incumbent gripes.

### Markets and discovery

- **Market read**: Size up a niche's demand and competition.
- **Market pulse**: The pulse reads recent reviews per day as a live activity signal.
- **Estimated downloads**: Estimated downloads are modeled from public signals across the apps in the sample, 100 for a category and 50 everywhere else, not numbers reported by Apple. They size that sample, so read them for relative comparison. Apple reports your own downloads to you in App Store Connect.
- **Estimated revenue**: Estimated revenue is a modeled, order-of-magnitude signal covering the apps in the sample, not reported revenue and not a total for the whole market. Coverage is shown beside it, so a thin read is visible rather than smoothed.
- **Category comparison**: Compare every App Store category at a glance.
- **Category drill-down**: Drill into a category's top search terms.
- **Live charts**: Browse live Top Free, Paid, and Grossing charts.
- **Keywords behind top apps**: See the search terms driving today's top apps.
- **Niche signals**: Live Signal is an immediate read of demand and niche relevance, not a historical trend line.
- **Keyword explorer**: Find popular searches that share your term's intent.
- **Concept demand**: The app proposes alternate wording, then only counts a phrase once it is confirmed against live searches.
- **Idea Lab**: Validate a new app idea with live data.
- **Crossover evidence**: Prove people want your idea's mashup.

### Workflow and reporting

- **Pre-launch research**: Research a concept before it's even launched.
- **Weekly email report (coming soon)**: An automatic end-of-week email covering each tracked app: the terms that moved, the rank each moved from, and the actions to take the following week, ordered by what they are worth.
- **Multiple apps**: Track a whole portfolio of apps side by side.
- **Every storefront**: Switch storefronts to research any country.
- **Search, filter, sort**: Organize your keywords instantly.
- **Tags and notes**: Organize keywords with tags and private notes.
- **Bulk actions**: Tag, copy, or remove terms in bulk.
- **CSV export**: Export your keywords to a spreadsheet in a click.
- **Refresh controls**: Refresh on your schedule, automatically or on demand.
- **Guided setup**: Get started in a couple of guided steps.

### Data and integrations

- **Works with your AI**: ASO Studio runs a Model Context Protocol server, so an AI agent can read your keywords, rankings, market and release plans, research live App Store data, write your listing in any language and ship it to App Store Connect, and run your Apple Search Ads. It is the same set of tools the assistant inside the app uses, against the same workspace.
- **Runs on your Mac**: A native app, not a web dashboard. Your research lives on your machine.
- **Live App Store data**: Everything runs on live App Store data.
- **No keys required**: No API keys or paid data plans required.
- **Apple Search Ads reports**: The search-term report from your connected account, scored against the keywords you already track: spend on terms you win organically, budget that bought no installs, and researched terms nothing is bidding on yet.
- **Campaign management**: Campaigns, ad groups, keywords and negative keywords, created and edited without leaving ASO Studio. It runs on Apple's Ads Platform API v1, the surface that replaces Campaign Management v5.
- **Every change priced first**: Each campaign change is built, listed edit by edit, and labelled with its effect on spend: it can increase what a day costs, it cannot increase it, or it does not touch spend. Deletions and anything that spends money are confirmed every time, including when an AI agent asks.
- **Campaign term import**: Terms that already converted for you, brought into your tracked keywords in one step. They are the highest-confidence keywords available anywhere, because you have receipts for them.
- **Research straight into an ad group**: A term you found organically can be pushed into an ad group with a bid, without retyping it into Apple's console. The same list drives both sides of search.
- **Apple's own search popularity**: A connected account can read Apple's 1 to 100 search popularity for any term. Every other popularity figure in ASO Studio is inferred from public signals; this one comes from Apple, costs nothing to read, and calibrates the estimates elsewhere.
- **On-device intelligence**: Optional on-device AI on supported Macs.
- **Optional OpenAI**: Bring your own OpenAI key for deeper analysis.
- **Always current**: The workspace stays fast and up to date on its own.
- **Automatic updates**: Every new version arrives automatically.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why switch from AppTweak, Appfigures or Sensor Tower?
The same keyword research, a fraction of the price, on your own Mac. AppTweak starts at $949 a year. Appfigures puts the real keyword tools behind $149.99 a month. Sensor Tower will not print a price at all. ASO Studio is $59 a year for all of it, with no per-app or per-keyword tiers and no seats to buy. ASO Studio covers Apple's App Store, with Google Play coming soon. It includes management of your own Apple Search Ads campaigns. If you need team seats or intelligence about competitors' advertising creatives, the comparison pages explain where other products fit.

### What is ASO Studio?
ASO Studio helps iOS developers grow their apps, with keyword and competitor research on Mac and App Review and sales tracking on iPhone. It combines review mining, keyword research, rank tracking, and release planning so you can investigate opportunities and decide what to change next. Runs on macOS 15 or later.

### Is there an iPhone or iPad app?
Yes. ASO Studio Connect is native on iPhone and iPad, and every ASO Studio subscription includes ASO Studio Connect Pro. It follows every version you submit from submitted to live with a push the moment it moves, shows your downloads and proceeds every morning, and carries your keyword ranks and rival changes from the Mac. Sign in with the same Apple account and Pro is on. More at asostudio.app/connect.

### Why is my app getting no downloads?
Start with whether App Store search is holding it back, which is the half of discovery ASO Studio measures: whether anyone searches the words in your listing, and whether the apps holding the words they do search are out of reach. Apple is explicit that the icon, the screenshots and the rest of the product page decide whether the people who do find you install, and ASO Studio does not judge any of those. If your terms have demand and you rank well for them and installs are still flat, the answer is on your product page, and your own conversion rate in App Store Connect is where to read it. The long version, six reasons with the one thing to check for each, is at asostudio.app/blog/why-my-app-gets-no-downloads.

### Which app stores do you support?
Apple's App Store, in every storefront Apple operates. Google Play is coming soon.

### Where do the numbers come from?
ASO Studio uses its own algorithms to model keyword demand, competition, and market size from public App Store signals. The models draw on search results, autocomplete, ratings, review activity, and pricing to help you compare opportunities. Keyword scores express relative demand and difficulty. Download and revenue estimates describe the apps in the stated sample. Your own figures come from App Store Connect, and an optional Apple Search Ads connection adds Apple's own search popularity index. The app distinguishes those reported figures from its estimates.

### Do I get a weekly report?
It is on the way. The plan is a Friday email for each app you track: the terms that moved, the rank each one moved from, and what is worth doing next week. It comes with the subscription at no extra cost, and you turn it on yourself, so nothing about your research leaves your Mac unless you ask for it.

### Can I try it before buying?
Not the app itself, yet. The App Rating checker at asostudio.app/app-rating scores any App Store app out of 100 for free, with no sign-up.

### How many Macs can I use it on?
As many as you like, plus ASO Studio Connect on your iPhone and iPad. Your subscription follows your Apple account.

### Do I need API keys or my App Store Connect login?
No, and there is nowhere to enter an Apple password. Every measurement works out of the box on public data. Two optional connections exist and both use Apple's own credentials: Apple Search Ads through Apple's OAuth, and an App Store Connect API key, which lets the app read your live listing and write an approved title, subtitle and keyword field back for you. Both sets of credentials stay in your Mac's Keychain, and the metadata write always shows you the field-by-field diff first.

### Does ASO Studio run my Apple Search Ads?
Yes, and it is included. Connect your account through Apple's OAuth and you get both halves: a search-term report scored against the keywords you already track, and campaign management in the same window. Campaigns, ad groups, keywords, negative keywords, bids and daily budgets are all created and edited in the app. The report is the part a standalone ads tool cannot do, because it reads your paid spend against your organic ranks: money going to terms you already win, budget that bought impressions and no installs, and researched terms nothing is bidding on yet. Every change is previewed edit by edit and labelled with what it does to spend before anything is sent.

### Which AI agents work with it?
Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and anything else that speaks MCP. There is one address to connect, the same everywhere. Your agent can read your keywords, rankings, market and release plans, research live App Store data, write your listing in any language and ship it to App Store Connect, and run your Apple Search Ads. You choose which tools it may use, and a change to your App Store listing, a deletion, or anything that spends money asks you every time. The work always happens in ASO Studio on your Mac, so it has to be running.

### Can I use OpenAI for the AI features?
Yes, bring your own key and pick your model. Without one it falls back to on-device Apple Intelligence.

### Where does my research data live?
On your Mac. Tracked apps, keywords, notes and history are stored there, and any keys go in the Keychain. We keep only what is needed to check your subscription. The weekly report, when it ships, will be opt-in and will sync only what that email is built from; the privacy policy describes it in advance.

### Cancelling and refunds
Cancel anytime in the Stripe billing portal and keep access to the end of the paid period. For a refund, write in through the support page.

### I have another question
Ask through the support page. You will get a reply from the person who builds ASO Studio.

ASO Studio uses its own algorithms to model keyword demand, competition, and market size from public App Store signals. The models draw on search results, autocomplete, ratings, review activity, and pricing to help you compare opportunities. Keyword scores are relative indexes, not search-volume counts. An optional Apple Search Ads connection supplies Apple's own search popularity index, which is distinct from the modeled scores. Other apps' download and revenue estimates cover the stated sample; they are not Apple-reported totals. Your own downloads and revenue come from App Store Connect when connected. Keep measured observations, modeled estimates, and missing data distinct.
