App Store release planning

Know what to change in your next App Store release.

ASO Studio's Next Release workspace turns App Store research into a listing plan. It selects a target term from measured opportunities, drafts changes to your title, subtitle, and keyword field, and shows existing rankings those changes may put at risk. Approve a plan, ship the change, and evaluate the observed result against the target you chose.

When to use it

Useful when your app is already on the App Store and you need to choose the next listing change. Start with your current metadata and tracked terms. Supply the keyword field yourself or use your optional App Store Connect connection, because that field is not public.

How the workflow works

  1. 01

Choose a target from measured opportunities

Next Release compares candidate terms with your app and the apps ranking for them. Review the selected opportunity, its demand and difficulty, and the competitors ahead of you. The plan gives a reason to prioritize a term, while leaving the final decision with you.

  2. 02

    Compare the actual metadata changes

Inspect drafts for the title, subtitle, and keyword field. Where valid drafts are available, compare a targeted placement with rebalancing the fields together. The app checks character limits and word coverage after drafting, so you can review the actual text that would change.

  3. 03

Check what the rewrite puts at risk

The risk view identifies tracked terms affected by dropped words and shows ranks the app has actually read. A word moving between fields is different from disappearing from the listing. Review the tradeoff before approving, particularly when a term you already rank for depends on wording the draft removes.

  4. 04

Ship, then check against the original target

Approve the draft and review the field-by-field diff before sending supported changes through your optional App Store Connect connection, or apply the text yourself. Mark when it is live. The plan keeps its original success criterion and uses later rank readings to assess the result, including an inconclusive result when the evidence is missing.

An explicit change with a baseline

Your plan records the target term, the previous listing, the selected draft, and the criterion for judging it. For example, a movie app might investigate a term about choosing a film rather than adding more generic entertainment wording. That example explains the decision process; the useful target for your app must come from its own measured results.

What the evidence can tell you

Next Release combines measured rankings with ASO Studio's own scoring and metadata checks. It compares opportunities, calculates word coverage, and identifies the tracked terms a draft may put at risk, so you can assess a concrete change before shipping it.

Coverage estimates and forecasts do not guarantee indexing, a ranking position, or additional downloads. Draft availability also depends on the app's configured AI and whether the generated text passes validation.

The outcome records whether the chosen target was met. It cannot establish that the metadata change caused the movement, because competitors, seasonality, and store behavior can change too.

This is listing and search planning. It does not build or submit your app binary, replace App Review, design screenshots, or run product-page A/B tests.

App Store release planning

Common questions.

Does ASO Studio only suggest keywords?

No. Next Release uses the research to propose actual title, subtitle, and keyword-field changes. It also shows potential risks to tracked terms and preserves the approved plan for later evaluation.

Can ASO Studio publish my App Store metadata?

With the optional App Store Connect API connection, it can send supported title, subtitle, and keyword-field changes after you review the diff and approve. Apple's editing and review requirements still apply. You can also apply the text yourself.

How do I know whether a listing change worked?

Mark the change as live and keep collecting rank readings. Next Release evaluates observations against the criterion recorded at approval. Missing or unsuitable evidence produces an inconclusive result rather than an invented success.
