Native App Store research for Mac

The answer to why
your app gets no downloads.

Nobody searches your words, or bigger apps own them. ASO Studio shows you which, and the terms you can win.

Every term you track

All your keywords, one table.

Live position and seven-day momentum, demand, difficulty, what the term is worth in downloads and revenue, and who holds it today.

Read every signal

The numbers, decoded.

ASO Studio scores each keyword the way the store sees it. Every metric is defined, labeled when estimated, and read at a glance.

77

Popularity

Relative prominence from where the term surfaces in live search and the audience of competing apps. Best for comparing terms, not raw volume.

24

Demand

A storefront-demand index measured from how readily the App Store surfaces an exact term in search. Apple Ads observations calibrate it when connected.

67

Difficulty

How hard it is to rank, blending the leaders' rating volume, saturation, and how many top apps target the term. Higher is harder.

74

Opportunity

High demand paired with low difficulty. A keyword has to be both wanted and winnable to score well here.

#67

Position

Your live rank for the term, with a momentum chip showing how many spots you moved over the last seven days.

Confidence

How much to trust a keyword's estimates, based on live search evidence, result-set size, and exact Apple Ads observations.

From signal to decision

Inspect the keyword, not just the score.

Open any term to see ranking incumbents, demand evidence, difficulty, opportunity, and confidence together, with a plain-language read on whether the lane is worth taking.

  • Full ranking incumbents for the term
  • Demand and difficulty with confidence signals
  • Position history so you can see momentum

Zoom all the way out

Compare entire categories.

Weigh every App Store category by size, revenue, and difficulty before you pick where to compete, then drill into the head terms that define it.

  • Category demand, downloads, and revenue at a glance
  • Subscription mix and monetization by category
  • Local history, tags, notes, and CSV export

Joe, who builds ASO Studio

Hey, it’s Joe

(the guy who makes ASO Studio) · @joearizzo

I ship my own apps, and I could never work out which search terms were worth chasing.

Every tool that would tell me was priced for a marketing team. AppTweak wanted $949 a year to start. Appfigures put the real keyword tools behind $149.99 a month.

Sensor Tower would not print a price at all.

I was not paying that to answer a question about my own app. So I built the thing I wanted.

It is $59.99 a year because of what it is not.

One person writes it. No sales team, no account managers, no support tiers.

It runs on your Mac, on public App Store data. There is no server farm crunching your keywords for me to bill you for.

Nothing is metered, because metering is a billing department I do not have.

Still working out whether your app is going anywhere? Take $11.99 a month and switch to yearly later.

Before you buy

Common questions.

What is ASO Studio?

A native Mac app for App Store keyword research. It scores every keyword for demand, difficulty and opportunity, tracks your live rank, and reads your competitors and category. $59.99 a year, macOS 15 or later.

Which app stores do you support?

Apple's App Store only, in every storefront Apple operates. No Google Play, and none planned. If you ship on both, you will want a second tool for Android.

Where do the numbers come from?

Live public App Store data, read from Apple's own endpoints. Apple publishes no search volume and no download figures to anyone, so demand, difficulty and the revenue estimates are modeled. Use them to compare, not to quote.

Do I get a weekly report?

It is on the way. The plan is a Friday email for each app you track: the terms that moved, the rank each one moved from, and what is worth doing next week. It comes with the subscription at no extra cost, and you turn it on yourself, so nothing about your research leaves your Mac unless you ask for it.

Can I try it before buying?

Not the app itself, yet. The App Rating checker at asostudio.app/app-rating scores any App Store app out of 100 for free, with no sign-up.

How many Macs can I use it on?

As many as you like. Your subscription follows your Apple account.

Do I need API keys or my App Store Connect login?

Neither, and there is nowhere to enter a store password. It works out of the box on public data. Apple Search Ads is an optional connection through Apple's own OAuth, and those credentials stay in your Mac's Keychain.

Which AI agents work with it?

Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, through a built-in MCP server. One line in the terminal connects it, and your agent can then read your keywords and their live metrics and add new ones. It runs as a socket on your Mac that only your account can read.

Can I use OpenAI for the AI features?

Yes, bring your own key and pick your model. Without one it falls back to on-device Apple Intelligence.

Where does my research data live?

On your Mac. Tracked apps, keywords, notes and history are stored there, and any keys go in the Keychain. We keep only what is needed to check your subscription. The weekly report, when it ships, will be opt-in and will sync only what that email is built from; the privacy policy describes it in advance.

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel anytime in the Stripe billing portal and keep access to the end of the paid period. For a refund, write in through the support page.
