The short version
What the choice actually turns on.
Only the rows where these two genuinely differ. Everything they answer the same way is left out, because it cannot decide anything.
- 01
Trying it. AppDrift: free plan. SplitMetrics Optimize: none. A permanent free plan and a trial that expires are not the same offer.
- 02
Scripting and AI access. AppDrift: mcp. SplitMetrics Optimize: none.
- 03
Price. AppDrift publishes a free tier; SplitMetrics Optimize publishes nothing and quotes on request.
- 04
Who each is built for. AppDrift sits in the indie tier and SplitMetrics Optimize in the enterprise tier, which usually matters more than any single feature.
In its favour
What AppDrift does well.
- A dozen free ASO tools that need no account at all, which is more open than most of this market.
- MCP and a REST API on every paid plan rather than reserved for a top tier, so scripting is not an upsell.
- Google Play alongside the App Store.
- Browser delivery, so it runs on Windows and Linux where ASO Studio cannot.
In its favour
What SplitMetrics Optimize does well.
- Real A/B testing of store listing creative, measured on live traffic. That is a capability, not a feature, and ASO Studio has nothing like it.
- The infrastructure and traffic volume to make an experiment reach significance, which is the hard part of testing.
- Google Play alongside the App Store.
- A team platform with the support and onboarding an enterprise contract carries.
Ours, for the record
There is a third option.
Both cover Google Play, which ASO Studio does not. If your app is iOS only, $59/yr a year covers unlimited apps and keywords on a native Mac app, and you can score your listing free first.
