The short version
What the choice actually turns on.
Only the rows where these two genuinely differ. Everything they answer the same way is left out, because it cannot decide anything.
- 01
Scripting and AI access. Gummicube: none. Sonar: mcp.
- 02
Where it runs. Gummicube: agency. Sonar: web.
- 03
Price. Sonar publishes $189 a year on Indie, Agency $99 a month; Gummicube publishes nothing and quotes on request.
- 04
Who each is built for. Gummicube sits in the enterprise tier and Sonar in the indie tier, which usually matters more than any single feature.
In its favour
What Gummicube does well.
- They do the work. For a team with budget and no time, that is the entire value and no tool substitutes for it.
- Years of category experience across many clients, which is judgement you cannot buy in software.
- Google Play alongside the App Store, handled by the same team.
- Creative and listing production as part of the engagement, not just the research behind it.
In its favour
What Sonar does well.
- Both stores in one dashboard, with no second subscription for Android.
- A proper developer surface: REST API, a native CLI and an MCP server on every plan.
- Being on the web, so it works from any machine rather than only a Mac.
- A cheaper annual entry price at $189 for the Indie plan if you need the Android half.
Ours, for the record
There is a third option.
Both cover Google Play, which ASO Studio does not. If your app is iOS only, $59/yr a year covers unlimited apps and keywords on a native Mac app, and you can score your listing free first.
