The short version

What the choice actually turns on.

Only the rows where these two genuinely differ. Everything they answer the same way is left out, because it cannot decide anything.

  1. 01

Scripting and AI access. Sonar: mcp. SplitMetrics Optimize: none.

  2. 02

Price. Sonar publishes $189 a year on Indie, Agency $99 a month; SplitMetrics Optimize publishes nothing and quotes on request.

  3. 03

Who each is built for. Sonar sits in the indie tier and SplitMetrics Optimize in the enterprise tier, which usually matters more than any single feature.

In its favour

What Sonar does well.

  • Both stores in one dashboard, with no second subscription for Android.
  • A proper developer surface: REST API, a native CLI and an MCP server on every plan.
  • Being on the web, so it works from any machine rather than only a Mac.
  • A cheaper annual entry price at $189 for the Indie plan if you need the Android half.

In its favour

What SplitMetrics Optimize does well.

  • Real A/B testing of store listing creative, measured on live traffic. That is a capability, not a feature, and ASO Studio has nothing like it.
  • The infrastructure and traffic volume to make an experiment reach significance, which is the hard part of testing.
  • Google Play alongside the App Store.
  • A team platform with the support and onboarding an enterprise contract carries.

Ours, for the record

There is a third option.

Both cover Google Play, which ASO Studio does not. If your app is iOS only, $59/yr a year covers unlimited apps and keywords on a native Mac app, and you can score your listing free first.
